My Platform For Cocoa

 

Facilitate Cocoa’s Economic Growth

  • Increase Local Employment through working with employers to support their growth plans by making Cocoa more business-friendly!
  • Develop a new comprehensive plan for the 524 Corridor to assure safe traffic flow and further encourage strategic business growth
  • Take Advantage of the new Brightline Railroad Station to encourage the location of surrounding businesses to increase our tax base
  • Consider the annexation of Cocoa West, Clearlake Village and Sunrise Village
  • Create regular Auto Row Events along the 520 Corridor to draw more visitors to our area.
  • Increased focus on CRIME PREVENTION (See below for more details) to make businesses safer
  • Implement A REAL PLAN to ELIMINATE our homeless problem
    * Work with MATTHEWS’S HOPE, DAILY BREAD , THE SHARING CENTER and other organizations
    * Provide better and safer housing options for our homeless population and ELIMINATE the homeless encampments
    * Encourage the construction of additional affordable housing on city-owed land and elsewhere by creating developer incentives

Increase Support For Law Enforcement

  • Better and more visible community policing
  • Provide more funding for Cocoa Police Department along with more transparency and accountability
  • Cleanup Clearlake, Dixon and Fiske and surrounding areas
  • Re-publicize the Crime Hotline at (800) 423-TIPS To Diminish Drug Traffic and Drug Abuse and other crimes
    * Publicize the amounts of money that are paid out every month in multiple forms of media
    * Provide each police officer with an ample supply of business cards to distribute at crime scenes, during investigations and elsewhere to not only promote the Crime Hotline but also foster better overall communication

Better Citizen Communication

  • Provide monthly video updates via the city’s website and various social media applications
  • Provide more time for citizens to be heard at City Council meetings
  • Feature Citizen Success Stories on City’s Website, Social Media and All Local & Regional Media

Upgrade Educational Opportunities

  • Raise the Academic Standards at Cambridge, Saturn, Endeavor and Cocoa Junior and Senior High School To Become “A” Schools
  • Leverage More Educational Synergy With EFSC’s Cocoa Campus
  • Work With the Brevard County School Board to advocate for increased funding for our local schools and programs
  • Work with local businesses to create internship and apprenticeship opportunities For Cocoa High School and EFSC students
